“fandom so powerful they forced the author to make a ship canon” no. no.
what you means is, Author so powerful she lead on the fandom for a decade on crumbs of a ship before revealing her hand.
one, we don’t actually know if Jerejean is planned to go canon, so jot that down.
two, if the fandom latched on Jerejean so desperately and profoundly, did you think it was accidental? did you think it was a coincidence? did you really believe Nora Sakavic left these two characters, with so few lines, to each other’s hands without supervision? i don’t think so, no. i will eat my hat before i believe this author, whose infinite cunning never ceases to amaze and bloom, did anything else but what she’d laid the foundations down for when AFTG was written. Miss Numerology? Miss Patterns? Miss Psychology? sending Jean to Jeremy’s Trojans randomly, after openly admitting it took drafts after drafts to keep Jean alive? nah.
tl;dr - we’ve been following where she wanted us to go all along. don’t you take credit for that.
